Stars Injury Update: Valeri Nichushkin out for a Week with Groin Injury

By on 10/16/2014 01:00:00 PM

The Dallas Stars have decided to sit winger Valeri Nichushkin for a week to rest his sore groin. The team is predicting a seven to ten day window before he begins practice again.

According to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News, Stars GM Jim Nill said that Nichushkin has been dealing with this groin issue for about six weeks and the team needs to further understand what the exact issue is.  After visiting a doctor on Tuesday, the initial analysis has the injury causing soreness in both the groin and hip area for Valeri Nichushkin. Rest and medication will be the treatment going forward. The Stars hope this rising young star can return to full strength sooner than later as the team aims to keep pace in the Central Division.

While Nichushkin is out, look for Colton Sceviour to get his chance on the top line. Tonight the Stars play in Pittsburgh and look to win their second game in a row.
