Texans Injury Update: Arian Foster uncertain vs. Cowboys

By on 10/03/2014 01:15:00 PM

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster had a league-high 55 carries through two weeks, but a hamstring issue led to him being inactive in Week 3. He returned to action against the Buffalo Bills in Week 4, but he admitted he was not fully healthy on his way to a dismal rushing performance (eight carries for six yards) that was only saved by solid production as a pass catcher (seven receptions for 55 yards).

Texans' head coach Bill O'Brien said Foster is day-to-day on Monday, and he did not practice Wednesday before being limited during Thursday's session. Foster himself has been non-committal about his status for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, which leaves him likely to be listed as questionable on Friday's injury report and another game-time decision looks certain.

Alfred Blue only had nine yards on nine carries last week against Buffalo, as Houston's running game struggled across the board. But the rookie out of LSU had 78 yards on 13 carries in Week 3 against the New York Giants when he started in Foster's place, and he seems to be a capable fill-in. If Foster winds up being inactive on Sunday, Blue would likely get the start against Dallas with Jonathan Grimes serving as his primary backup.
