Tigers Injury Update: Rajai Davis on ALDS roster, will start Game 1

By on 10/02/2014 04:15:00 PM

Detroit Tigers outfielder Rajai Davis has been deemed healthy enough to start the first game of the American League Division Series against the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday evening. James Schmehl of confirmed that Davis would start in center field for the Tigers:
There had been some uncertainty as to whether Davis would even be on the roster after he suffered a pelvic strain over the weekend. Schmehl added that both Ezequiel Carrera and Don Kelly had been included on the roster in the event that the Tigers needed some cover in center field.

Given the late decision on the speedy outfielder and the inclusion of both Carrera and Kelly, Detroit must still have concerns about whether Davis can realistically play in all four games, or at least for a full nine innings. It will also be worth monitoring Davis' performance on the basepaths and how aggressive the Tigers are with the running game, as they may not want to risk re-injury during a stolen base attempt.
