The Minnesota Timberwolves approach the first preseason game coming off a season in which they won 40 games, third in the Northwest Division. Although strong on the offensive end of the court, the Timberwolves were 26th in points allowed at 104.3 points per game. The team will be without Kevin Martin for the first preseason game due to an abductor strain.

Jerry Zgoda, who covers the Timberwolves for the Star Tribune, tweeted the following on Martin's status.
With Martin out of the lineup, expect Alexey Shved to see additional playing time, as well as Glenn Robinson III and perhaps Robbie Hummel and Shabazz Muhammad

Martin appeared in 68 games with the Timberwolves last season and averaged 19.1 points and three rebounds per game. The 10-year NBA veteran has played for the Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder and Timberwolves and has career averages of 17.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
