Timberwolves Injury Update: Shabazz Muhammad no longer in walking boot

By on 10/18/2014 06:00:00 AM

The Minnesota Timberwolves entered Friday night's game against the Milwaukee Bucks with a 1-1 record on the preseason. Coming off a 40-win season, the Timberwolves are looking to improve upon their defense which gave up over 104 points per game last season. One key will be to remain relatively injury-free, which they have not done so far this preseason. The good news is that Shabazz Muhammad is out of his walking boot and could be ready for Sunday's game.

I reported on October 13 that Muhammad, who has been out with an Achilles injury, was expected to practice but it was uncertain whether or not he'd be able to play Friday.

Andy Greder, who covers the Timberwolves for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, tweeted the following update on Muhammad.
Muhammad is currently listed third on the Timberwolves' depth chart at small forward behind Corey Brewer and Robbie Hummel.

Muhammad played 25 minutes in the preseason opener, scoring nine points and grabbing four rebounds in 25 minutes. He missed the second preseason game and practice on Saturday due to an Achilles injury. Muhammad, in his second season out of UCLA, averaged 3.9 points in 37 games last season.
