Titans Injury Update: Jake Locker leaves with thumb problem

By on 10/07/2014 11:16:00 AM

Jake Locker, the Tennessee Titans quarterback, injury plagued season continued as he left Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns with a thumb injury. Locker was hit high attempting to complete a third-down conversion in Cleveland territory. Mark Sessler reports Locker will undergo an MRI and await word on the severity of the injury.  The 4th-year player out of the University of Washington has completed only fifty-eight percent of his passes this season.

Locker's most recent injury is to the thumb on his throwing hand, so it is likely that anything more than bruising will significantly affect his ability to grip and throw the football.  A thumb ligament tear or tendon rupture are not uncommon with the type of injury Locker suffered and could be season-ending.  Charlie Whitehurst is the Titan's back-up quarterback should Locker be ruled out for the upcoming game at Jacksonville.
