Vikings Injury Update: Cordarrelle Patterson sheds walking boot

By on 10/28/2014 10:00:00 AM

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson had his best game of the season on Sunday, with six receptions (on 12 targets) for 86 yards along with one carry for 10 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Some concern surfaced when he was spotted leaving the visitor's locker room with a walking boot on his left foot, but head coach Mike Zimmer said Patterson got rid of the walking boot on Monday.

Zimmer said that Patterson suffered a bruise on his left ankle on his final kickoff return against Tampa Bay, and the fact he remained in the game is a sign the injury should not be a lingering issue. The walking boot looks likely to have just been a precaution, but Patterson's practice participation will be worth monitoring all week.

Facing a lackluster Buccaneers' defense was certainly a factor, but Patterson's season-high for targets in Week 8 is a good sign for his increased involvement in the Vikings' offense going forward.
