Warriors Injury Update: Shaun Livingston might not play entire preseason

By on 10/06/2014 06:00:00 AM

The Golden State Warriors approach the first preseason game coming off a season in which they won 51 games, but lost in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. Only six players appeared in 70 or more games last season. One injured player who is trying to return from injury is guard Shaun Livingston, who participated in shoot-around without a boot last week but may miss the entire preseason.

I reported on October 1 that Livingston was ahead of schedule in his recovery from injury, but
did not participate in the first day of practice. He shot free throws following practice without his protective walking boot, but there was no indication when he'll be able to fully participate in practice.

An update on Livingston, as reported by Diamond Leung of, is that he's out for the first preseason game.  Livingston continues to recover from off season toe surgery and is doubtful to see any action at all in the preseason.

Head coach Steve Kerr said that Leandro Barbosa could see some time at the point and share time with Andre Iguodala. Point guard Nemanja Nedovic is anxious to see Livingston back on the court.
"Honestly, I can't wait for Shaun to get back because good competition at the point guard spot makes me work harder and makes me want to earn my minutes more. Going against Steph (Curry) every day is really big for me, so I'm taking full advantage of it."

Livingston has played for nine different teams during his nine-year NBA career.  Last season with the Nets, he averaged 8.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. In 466 career games, Livingston is averaging seven points, 3.4 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game.
