Wild Injury Update: Justin Fontaine activated off injured reserve

By on 10/13/2014 02:20:00 PM

The Minnesota Wild received some good news today to go along with their blistering start to the season as forward Justin Fontaine was activated off of injured reserve. As reported by the StarTribune's Michael Russo, Fontaine was activated as Stu Bickel was placed on waivers.

Fontaine is bouncing back from a strained glute muscle which kept him out of Minnesota's season opening home-and-home series against the Avalanche. It certainly didn't look like the Wild were shorthanded as they shutout the Avalanche in both games, 5-0 and 3-0.

Fontaine was a nice contributor last season, his first in the NHL, with 21 points in 66 appearances including 13 goals. Fontaine, who played his college hockey locally at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (where he won a national title in 2011), also chipped in two points in the nine playoff games where he was active.
