Angels Injury Update: Garrett Richards on course to return for spring training

By on 11/04/2014 07:00:00 AM

The injury to Garrett Richards was one of the worst injuries of the season.  When he went down with a devastating knee injury, the Los Angeles Angels' World Series hopes took a gigantic hit.  They lost their ace and hopes of returning anytime soon looked slim.  Although it was first thought that he would also miss some of 2015 too, the Los Angeles Times' Mike DiGiovanna is reporting that Richards appears to be on track to return during spring training.

After years of developing, Richards took a huge step forward to become the team's best pitcher last season.  Through his 26 starts before his injury, he went 13-4 with an ERA of 2.61.  He also allowed just 0.3 home runs per nine innings which was the best among all American League pitchers.

The Angels already boast one of the best teams in all of baseball.  Having a healthy Richards at the start of the season would be a gigantic step in contending again in the AL West.
