Avalanche Injury Update: Brad Stuart could miss 2 weeks with hamstring injury

The Colorado Avalanche confirmed today that they will be without the services of defenseman Brad Stuart for potentially two weeks. According to The Score, Stuart suffered the hamstring injury in the second period of Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

Colorado head coach Patrick Roy was quoted as saying, "It's the hamstring. Hopefully he won't miss too many games. Last I heard it could be up to a couple weeks." The Avalanche don't exactly have an overflowing stable of defensemen as it is but, as reported on Twitter by Mike Chambers of The Denver Post, the club will not be calling anyone up at this time.

Stuart is an 18 year NHL veteran who has played in 999 career games in stints with San Jose (twice), Boston, Calgary, Los Angeles, Detroit and now Colorado. He has amassed 322 career points with 77 goals. Stuart was acquired by the Avalanche this summer via a trade with San Jose.
