Bernard, who is listed as probable on the Bengals injury report, is expected to play after missing the Bengals last three games with hip and clavicle injuries. He was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, but a full participant on Thursday and Friday.
With Bernard back in action, he and Jeremy Hill could split carries this week. Hill has done an excellent job filling in for Bernard this year, amassing 556 yards and five touchdowns on 113 carries. These numbers include more than 150 rushing yards in two of the last three games. Bernard meanwhile has tallied 446 yards on 109 carries and five touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the football, linebacker Vontaze Burfict has been declared out for the Bengals matchup at Houston today. He's missed the last three weeks after having arthroscopic knee surgery at the end of October. Burfict also missed two games earlier in the year with a concussion. A Pro Bowler last year with 171 combined tackles, he's only been credited with 29 tackles in an injury riddled season this year.
Cornerback Terence Newman, who missed last Sunday's win at New Orleans with a knee injury, has been listed as probable. Newman was held out of practice on Wednesday, but was a limited participant on Thursday, and full participant on Friday. He's recorded 51 tackles on the season. Expect him to be available today.
The Bengals will look to build on their slim lead in the NFC North, taking on the Texans in Houston today.
