Blackhawks Injury Update: Patrick Sharp leaves game, not looking good

By on 11/04/2014 10:41:00 PM

Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp left Tuesday's game against the Montreal Canadiens in the third period and did not return. The injury occurred when he was hit into the boards by the Habs' Alexei Emelin. He remained down on the ice for several minutes, and didn't appear to put much weight on his leg while heading to the dressing room.

After the game, head coach Joel Quenneville said that Sharp will be out "for a bit", as reported by Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune. He will travel back to Chicago with the team and will be re-evaluated.

Although it's far from a confirmation, Quenneville's comments suggests that Sharp's injury should be calculated in weeks rather than days.

The 32-year-old veteran has played in 13 games this season. He's having a good start, with three goals and six assists.

We'll have to wait for an official diagnosis on Sharp in order to determine the extent of the injury. However, he's a big part of the team. Any time missed is a significant blow to the team.
