Blackhawks Injury Update: Van Riemsdyk has successful knee surgery

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Trevor Van Riemsdyk under went successful surgery to repair a left patella fracture.



Van Riemsdyk, who has been sidelined for 3-4 months, broke his left kneecap when he took a puck off his leg during Sunday's 6-2 win against the Dallas Stars, as per NHL.This is Van Riemsdyk's second major leg injury; he suffered a significant left injury during his junior season at the University of New Hampshire.

Van Riemsdyk has one point (one assist) this season so far.
