Blazers Injury Update: Nicolas Batum has been ruled 'out' for tonight's game against the Nuggets

Portland Trail Blazers small forward Nicolas Batum will not play tonight against the Nuggets after it was revealed that his right knee contusion has not yet healed completely. The injury occurred during Sunday's contest, also against the Nuggets, when Batum went down with a minute left in the game.

The seventh-year veteran from France needed assistance to get from the court to the locker room, however an MRI taken later in the day revealed the injury to simply be a contusion. This diagnosis is good news for the Blazers, who will likely only be without the services of Batum for a few games.

Batum, who had not missed a game since the 2012-13 season, has already been declared out for tonight's contest, his second missed game in a row. In place of Batum will be second year guard Allen Crabbe. While listed as a shooting guard, Crabbe is able to play multiple positions due to his 6'6" frame and athleticism. This marks Crabbe's second career start, after beginning the game for Portland yesterday against Charlotte. Crabbe scored two points on 1-4 shooting in 22 minutes, in addition to two rebounds and two assists.
