Blue Jackets Injury Update: James Wisniewski will play Friday

By on 11/06/2014 04:20:00 PM

The Columbus Blue Jackets will have defenseman James Wisniewski back in the lineup on Friday against the Carolina Hurricanes. The team made it official by activating him off the Injured Reserve Thursday afternoon.

BlueJackets.com reported that Wisniewski missed the previous three games with a broken finger. He was initially expected to miss two weeks of time, but his recovery has been quicker than expected. His return was confirmed by Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Dispatch. In nine games, he has accounted for three assists and and a plus/minus rating of -1. Wisniewski could be the cure to what is ailing the Blue Jackets as they have lost six games in a row and sit at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division standings.

Columbus continues to battle the injury bug as defenseman Ryan Murray will be placed on the Injured Reserve retroactive to November 1st with a knee injury.
