Blues Injury Update: Stastny close to returning to the lineup

By on 11/03/2014 08:30:00 PM

St. Louis Blues forward Paul Stastny is nearing his return to the lineup after missing seven games so far with an apparent shoulder injury.

Stastny was on the ice Sunday morning for the team's optional practice and is traveling with them on their two-game road trip against the Rangers and Devils on Monday and Tuesday, as reported by Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He was not in the lineup Monday night.

Although he was on the ice, he has yet to take any real contact. Therefore, it isn't likely that he will play on Tuesday.

"He's going to make the trip with us and we'll see from there," head coach Ken Hitchcock said. "You know, he's pretty much acting and behaving as a player right now. I would say the date is really up to him now — it's what he decides."

"We're hopeful than it's sooner than later, but I can't give you a defined date right now. It's when he's comfortable with everything that he's going to give us the green light, so I don't think he's that far away."

Stastny signed with the Blues over the summer. In four games played this season, he has a goal and three assists.

After their current road trip, they begin a five-game homestand on Thursday.
