Broncos Injury Update: Julius Thomas, Montee Ball, Emmanuel Sanders

By on 11/19/2014 11:15:00 AM

The Denver Broncos were decimated by injuries to several key offensive weapons in their upset loss to the St. Louis Rams on Sunday afternoon. Julius Thomas was forced to leave the contest with a sprained ankle, as was Emmanuel Sanders with a concussion and Montee Ball after aggravating his groin injury. The best news is that Julius Thomas' injury is considered minor and he may not be forced to miss any time.

Ian Rapoport of reports that Julius Thomas sustained a minor ankle sprain and may not be forced to miss week 12, even though he was not able to return on Sunday. The loss of Thomas, who was the first tight end with back-to-back 12 touchdown seasons, was a big loss for the offense on Sunday.

With the team already hurting at running back due to Ronnie Hillman reportedly out for a few weeks, Montee Ball's groin problem will cause him to miss some time as well. The Denver Post reports that Ball will miss two or three weeks and Ronnie Hillman is expected to at least miss this weeks contest. In their absence, C.J Anderson will be the workhorse out of the backfield behind the Broncos struggling offensive line.

Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders took a vicious shot Sunday as he dove for a pass while streaking down the sideline, resulting in a concussion. He will be under the concussion protocol and will need to be cleared by an independent doctor before he can return to the field.

Fantasy owners should keep an eye on Thomas and Sanders the rest of the week and their participation in practice leading up to the Broncos week 12 tilt with the Miami Dolphins at Sports Authority Field in Denver.
