Broncos Injury Update: Montee Ball, Emmanuel Sanders, Julius Thomas

By on 11/17/2014 11:00:00 AM

A disappointing 22-7 loss to the St. Louis Rams was bad enough, but the Denver Broncos also came out of Sunday's game very banged up.

Tight end Julius Thomas suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter, and was unable to return. He is scheduled for an MRI on Monday, after which more will be known about his status going forward, but ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thomas is not thought to be dealing with a high ankle sprain.

Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders took a huge hit from Rams' safety Rodney McLeod in the third quarter on Sunday, and was quickly diagnosed with a concussion. He is in the league's concussion protocol, which will have his status for Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins up in the air until further notice.

Running back Montee Ball returned to action on Sunday after missing the previous five games with a groin issue, but he aggravated the injury on his first snap and did not return. His status is at best unclear right now, but a few more missed games can be expected depending on the results of his MRI on Monday. With Ronnie Hillman (foot) also likely to be out for a few more games, C.J. Anderson will remain atop the running back depth chart for Denver.
