The Cleveland Browns suffered two damaging injuries on the defensive side of the football Sunday. During the Browns' 23-7 loss to the Houston Texans, linebackers Karlos Dansby and Jabaal Sheard both left the game early and didn't return.

On Monday, an update from Mary Kay Cabot at indicated that both linebackers would miss a significant amount of time, with Sheard possibly done for the season.
According to coach Mike Pettine, Dansby suffered a sprained MCL, but its not known whether surgery will be needed.  He could be out for more than a month, and his injury will be filled by rookie Chris Kirksey and Tank Carder.

Sheard has a bone injury in his foot, but will seek a second opinion to assess the severity of the injury.  In his absence, 2013 1st round pick Barkavious Mingo will get an expanded role, though he's dealing with a shoulder injury himself.

Dansby, who signed a four year, $24 million contract in the offseason was Cleveland's leading tackler with 73 tackles, and three sacks.  Sheard had contributed 36 tackles and two sacks.
