Bulls Injury Update: Taj Gibson sprains left ankle

By on 11/22/2014 02:27:00 PM

Taj Gibson is the latest Chicago Bull to go down to injury. In the third quarter of last night's game versus the Blazers, Gibson turned his left ankle on a play in the paint and had to be helped off to the locker room.

Gibson himself told reporters after the game that he took x-rays and they came back negative. Coach Tom Thibodeau is hopeful the left ankle is just a sprain and Gibson is day-to-day.

The left ankle is the same ankle Gibson sprained during the second game of the season versus the Cavaliers on October 31st. He missed 1 game and then returned to action. Gibson worked extensively in the summer to rehab this left ankle that has undergone numerous sprains since the end of last season.

Via NBC's Kurt Helin, Gibson said:

“I gotta get this thing right... Just talking to Derrick, talking to the guys, I have to be patient. I have to stop trying to run back out there to try to play through these things. We have a long season. It’s just the dog in me that wants to be out there and play. I have to just learn from this.”
