By on 11/09/2014 01:34:00 PM

Washington Capitals first-line winger Tom Wilson sustained a lower-body injury during the second period of the game against the Carolina Hurricanes according to The Washington Post.

Wilson had body checked the Hurricanes defenseman John-Michael Liles when he pulled up lame. Wilson immediately left the ice and was sent to the locker room; Wilson was playing in the second game of a back-to-back.

The Capitals have confirmed that it is a lower-body injury, and his return to the ice is questionable.

Wilson has played six games this season recording one goal and two assists.
