Capitals Injury Update: Wilson, Laich could return on Friday

By on 11/12/2014 12:24:00 PM

Tom Wilson and Brooks Laich of the Washington Capitals returned to the ice Tuesday morning for a practise skate, but did not return for Tuesday night's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets because of injuries.

Wilson sustained a lower-body injury after back-checking Carolina Hurricanes John-Michael Liles and pulling up lame during Sunday night's game; this was his seventh game of the season after returning to the NHL two weeks ago from fracturing his fibula.

Laich sustained an upper-body injury (shoulder) during October 18th's 2-1 shootout win over the Florida Panthers, when he collided with Panthers winger Shawn Thornton in front of the Washington bench, and was placed onto injured reserve. According to The Washington Post, Capitals Coach Barry Trotz said that based on what the trainers have told him, "if they have a good day today, Friday is a possibility, yes."

Wilson has three points (one goal and two assists) and Laich has one point (one assist) so far this season.
