Cardinals Injury Update: Chris Perry's AFL season over due to shoulder soreness

By on 11/12/2014 02:00:00 PM

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Chris Perry won't participate in the rest of the Arizona Fall League season due to shoulder stiffness, reports Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

Perry left Monday's game early after suffering from stiffness in his right shoulder. The injury is not expected to be serious and Perry said that he wasn't worried about it.

The 24-year-old right-hander pitched well to end the season with High-A Palm Beach, posting a 1.93 ERA (3.25 FIP) and collecting five saves in 13 games. Perry struck out well over 30 percent of opposing batters in both High-A and Single-A in 2014.

St. Louis selected Perry in the 17th round of the 2012 draft. Jim Callis of ranks Perry as the Cardinals' No. 24 prospect.

While Perry has a long way to go if he is ever to reach the majors, he should move to Double-A sometime in 2015 if the shoulder injury is indeed not serious.
