Celtics Injury Update: Marcus Smart out 2-3 weeks

By on 11/09/2014 11:30:00 AM

Considering the position the Los Angeles Lakers are in regarding their rookie big man Julius Randle, I’m sure the Boston Celtics are glad that their rookie, Marcus Smart will only miss 2 – 3 weeks. As reported by Jay King of masslive.com, Smart sprained his ankle in Friday’s victory over the Indiana Pacers after landing on Lavoy Allen’s foot.

Given that the Celtics are one of the worst teams in the league and with rumors swirling around Rajon Rondo’s departure, Marcus Smart is the future. With teammates like Kelly OlynykJared Sullinger and James Young, the Boston Celtics’ only setback is their age and inexperience. Give them a few years and the opportunity to sign a marquee player and the Celtics will be back in the playoffs before we know it.

With Smart out and Rajon Rondo’s recovery from a surgery to remove a screw from his hand, as reported by our very own KKauffman1969 earlier this weekend, the Celtics are going to need others to step up. Possibly the opportunity Evan Turner has been waiting for?
