The Boston Celtics head into today's game against the Portland Trail Blazers coming off a 117-100 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Kelly Olynyk lead the Celtics with 18 points and six rebounds. The loss dropped the Celtics to 4-7, second in the Atlantic Division. The Celtics continue to play without Marcus Smart, who will again be out of action tonight against Portland.

I reported on November 21 that Smart, who has been out with an ankle injury,  is expected back on the court in game action next week. He's just started to increase his activity as he rehabs his left ankle that he injured earlier in the month against the Indiana Pacers.

Gary Washburn, NBA writer for the Boston Globe, tweeted the following update on Smart.
Expect Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley, Phil Pressey and Marcus Thornton to log the majority of the minutes in the back court with Smart out of action.

The rookie guard out of Oklahoma State, is averaging 6.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in 20.4 minutes in five games this season. He averaged 18 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game last season at Oklahoma State. Smart posted an average of 16.6 points in 64 collegiate games.
