Chargers Injury Report: Ryan Mathews, Dwight Freeney, Donald Brown

By on 11/02/2014 09:00:00 AM

The San Diego Chargers head down to south beach to take on the Miami Dolphins in week nine looking to redeem themselves. After reeling off five consecutive wins, the 5-3 Chargers are coming off consecutive loses for the first time this season. While running back Ryan Mathews has been ruled out as he continues to recover from a knee injury, the Chargers appear to have Donaad Brown available to spell Branden Oliver in the match up according to the Chargers official injury report.

Donald Brown has missed the last three games after sustaining a concussion, allowing the emergence of Oliver. Brown, who is listed as probable, took over the starting role when Ryan Mathews went down, but Oliver has played well in Brown's absence. While it appears Oliver with get the majority of the work, Brown will be useful as a pass catching back and is an above average pass blocker.

Outside linebacker Dwight Freeney was able to practice in full on Thursday and Friday after missing Wednesday's workout with a knee injury. He is listed as probable and is expected to play.

Along with Ryan Mathews, ILB Manti Te'o (foot) and CB Jason Verrett (torn labrum in shoulder) have been declared out. Safety Jahleel Addae (concussion) is listed as doubtful, with rookie linebacker Jerry Attaochu (hamstring) listed as questionable according to the Dolphins-Chargers injury update. Cornerback Brandon Flowers (concussion) practiced in full on Thursday and Friday and is listed as probable.
