Ducks Injury Update: John Gibson misses game due to injury during pre-game skate

By on 11/03/2014 04:19:00 PM

The Anaheim Ducks had to make some quick decisions before their 3-2 victory against the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday night. Backup goalie John Gibson was preparing to start the game before he suffered a pre-game lower-body injury.

Instead, recently called-up goalie Jason LaBarbera, who had just arrived off back-to-back games (both wins) with the AHL Norfolk Admirals. Dhiren Mahlban from Pro Hockey Talk reported that first-string goalie Frederik Andersen was suffering from leg tightness and unavailable. Gibson had started four games this season for the Ducks with a record of 2-2 and a goals against average (GAA) of 2.28. The Ducks won the game 3-2. One of the more notable facts of the game is that current Anaheim goaltending consultant Dwayne Roloson was dressed and ready to be the emergency backup goalie for this game.

The Ducks' next game is on Wednesday against the New York Islanders.
