Eagles Injury Update: Brent Celek injures ankle

By on 11/11/2014 03:00:00 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles embarrassed the Carolina Panthers on a national stage last night, but received a brief injury scare to starting tight end Brent Celek. Celek has had a disappointing season thus far, totaling just 90 yards on 14 catches through eight games, but was easily having his best game of the season before suffering an injury to his ankle.

Luckily for the Eagles, it does not appear to be a serious injury, as Celek was back on the sideline shortly after leaving the game.

In a game where the middle of the field was open all night, Celek more than doubled his yardage total for the season pilling up 116 yards on five catches, before hurting his ankle against the Panthers. Celek's impressive game could have been even better, but he was tackled inside the one-yard line after hauling in a 29 yard catch, just missing a touchdown.

Celek should be good to go for the Eagles' week 11 game against the Green Bay Packers, considering he returned to the sidelines and X-rays on his ankle showed up negative. He previously did not offer any value in fantasy, but with a new quarterback at the helm for the Eagles in Mark Sanchez, he might start to see an increase in targets. His big game could also be a result of game-flow and Celek could go back to being used primarily as a blocker, but something to keep an eye on especially if you are desperate at the tight end position.
