Falcons Injury Updates: Jonathan Babineaux, Robert Alford, Antone Smith

By on 11/18/2014 09:53:00 AM

The Atlanta Falcons had a rough game injury-wise Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.  The injuries tainted the victory which launched the Falcons into first-place in the NFC South.  Early in the first-quarter starting corner back Robert Alford suffered a wrist injury and did not return to the game. Coach Mike Smith announced Monday that Alford is likely to miss two to four weeks.

Also in the first-quarter Sunday, defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux suffered an apparent knee sprain. Babineaux did not return to the game and no indication on his status for the upcoming week has been given by the Falcons.  More concerning for the Falcons offense was the loss of running back Antone Smith . It was revealed Monday, Smith has suffered a broken leg in the fourth-quarter against the Panthers and now has been placed on the season-ending injured reserve list.  Smith has been an offensive surprise this season, currently tied for the lead in receiving touchdowns.
