Flyers Injury Update: Shayne Gostisbehere is out indefinitely with torn ACL

By on 11/10/2014 12:55:00 PM

The debut season for Shayne Gostisbehere will be cut short as he is out indefinitely with a torn ACL. He played in two games for the Flyers before suffering this injury.

Cam Tucker from ProHockey Talk reported that Gostisbehere will have surgery on November 13 and is out indefinitely. He suffered the injury on Friday night while playing for the Philadelphia Phantoms (AHL). As you can see from the video above, the hit against the boards behind the net is where the injury happened. He is considered one of the Flyers’ rising stars and an important piece to their future. This is a major setback in his development as ACL injuries can take over a year for the player to return to normal. Defenseman Braydon Coburn has returned to the lineup which should maintain the depth of the defensive line for the Flyers.

The Flyers are currently 7-5-2 and next play on Friday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
