Hawks Injury Update: DeMarre Carroll says he will play Friday

By on 11/21/2014 06:00:00 AM

The Atlanta Hawks fell to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday by the score of 114-109. The loss dropped the Hawks to 5-5 on the season, third in the Southeast Division. Jeff Teague lead the Hawks with 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor. The Hawks were once again without DeMarre Carroll due to a groin injury. The good news is Carroll says he'll be ready to return Friday against the Detroit Pistons.

I reported on November 18 that Carroll sustained a groin injury a week ago and had missed the past four games. Chris Vivlamore, who covers the Hawks for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, tweeted the following update on Carroll.
Thabo Sefolosha  has been starting in place of Carroll and is averaging 6.4 points and 5.1 rebounds in 23.3 minutes per game.

Carroll, in his sixth NBA season, is averaging 12 points on 49 percent shooting from the floor and 6.3 rebounds per game. Carroll has played for the Grizzlies, Rockets, Nuggets, Jazz and Hawks and has career averages of 6.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 252 games.
