The Miami Heat enter Wednesday night's game against the Indiana Pacers coming off a 105-96 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. The win improved the Heat to 5-2, first in the Southeast Division. The Heat have been playing with veteran big man Chris Andersen, who has been battling a rib injury. The good news for the Heat is that Andersen is expected to play tonight for only the third time this season.

Andersen has played in only two games this season due to a rib injury.  Justin Hamilton and Udonis Haslem have seen additional playing with in Andersen's absence.

Ira Winderman, who covers the Heat for the South Florida Sun Sentinel, tweeted the following update on Andersen.
Wes Goldberg of also added that the Heat have struggled against opposing big men  Dwight Howard, Al Jefferson and Nikola Pekovic without Andersen in the lineup. Although 36 years old, Andersen is needed to match up against big men when the games count more later in the season. Therefore, sitting him down early on is a wise choice for the Heat.

Andersen, in his 13th NBA season, is averaging 3.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 20.5 minutes per game this season. He has played for the Nuggets, Pelicans and Heat and has career averages of 5.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in 598 games.
