Jaguars Injury Update: Alllen Hurns suffers concussion

By on 11/11/2014 01:00:00 PM

Allen Hurns, wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars, suffered a concussion during their London match with the Dallas Cowboys. He was forced to leave the contest in the third quarter after being the recipient of a huge hit from linebacker Anthony Hitchens.

Hurns was a preseason sensation after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Miami. He made 14 catches for 232 yards and a touchdown in four games and carried the momentum into week one of the regular season, catching four balls for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Since then, however, his production has been extremely uneven, netting only 365 yards through nine weeks.

The Jaguars have struggled offensively this season, but Hurns still leads all rookie wide receivers with five touchdown grabs. He has a ton of potential, and as the young Jags grow, he could blossom into a solid number one option for rookie quarterback Blake Bortles.

Meanwhile, fellow rookie Allen Robinson and fourth-year receiver Cecil Shorts are primed to see increased action, depending on how long Hurns remains out. The Jaguars may enter their bye week at 1-9, but they are not panicking, as they are the youngest team in the NFL and foresee immense future success.
