Jaguars Injury Update: Cecil Shorts expects to play Sunday

By on 11/07/2014 04:30:00 PM

As the Jacksonville Jaguars prepare to play the Dallas Cowboys in London this week, wide receiver Cecil Shorts was limited in Wednesday's practice before sitting out of Thursday's session completely. But Shorts said he expects to play on Sunday, and his being listed as probable on Friday backs up that expectation.

Shorts has 28 receptions for 256 yards and one touchdown in six games played this season, as leg injuries have hampered him at various times and kept him out of three games. He has not had more than five catches or 41 yards in five of his six games, and without a 10-catch, 103-yard game in Week 6 against the Tennessee Titans his overall numbers would be even more dismal.

Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns have usurped Shorts in the wide receiver pecking order for Jacksonville thus far. If fellow rookie Marqise Lee can shake off an ankle injury from practice this week, his role could expand against Dallas and stay that way as the season winds down.
