Jets Injury Update: Percy Harvin limited with heel injury

By on 11/06/2014 01:00:00 PM

The oft-injured wide receiver Percy Harvin, who was recently traded to the New York Jets, faces the potential of missing playing time with an injured ankle. Harvin was limited in practice both yesterday and again today.

Harvin's ankle was apparently stepped on in practice causing the injury. However minor the injury might be, when it comes to a player with Harvin's history, caution is key. Further complicating the issue is that the Jets are on the bye next week, meaning if they hold Harvin out from Sunday's home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he would have an extra week of time to heal.

Although the acquisition of Harvin has not paid off in terms of wins for the Jets - the team is 0-2 since Harvin joined the team - he was productive on the field last week against the Kansas City Chiefs. Harvin caught 11 of his 13 targets for 129 yards and had one rushing attempt for eight yards. He also returned two kickoffs for a total of 88 yards.

If Harvin is able to play on Sunday, he has a good chance of posting solid numbers again, as the Steelers' defense has been a middle-of-the-road team against the pass. Look for Jeremy Kerley to replace Harvin in two wide receiver sets if Harvin isn't healthy enough to play.
