Kings Injury Updates: DeMarcus Cousins probable, Rudy Gay questionable for game against Bulls

By on 11/20/2014 04:30:00 PM

Sacramento Kings stars DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay are expected to play tonight despite fighting nagging injuries for the past few days. Cousins has been battling left hip flexor stiffness, while Gay has been suffering Achilles tendinitis in his right leg as of late.

The injury to Cousins occurred on Tuesday, while warming up for the day's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. The tweak didn't seem to faze the big man, as he posted 24 points and 17 rebounds against a tough New Orleans front line. Gay re-injured his Achilles tendon, igniting the Achilles tendinitis that he was recently diagnosed with. The small forward had the same injury last year and was able to play through it, however did not look like himself during Tuesday's contest, scoring just 16 points on 6-17 shooting.

The Kings have surprised the NBA this year, winning six of their first 11 games including an impressive victory against the reigning champion San Antonio Spurs. Cousins and Gay have been the main contributors to the early season success, combining for 44.3 points and 18.1 rebounds per game thus far. Both players are expected to start tonight against the Chicago Bulls, however if either suffer a setback during pregame warm ups head coach Mike Malone will not hesitate to take the out of the starting lineup.
