Knicks Injury Update: Andrea Bargnani to sit out at least another week with hamstring injury

New York Knicks' forward Andrea Bargnani is likely to miss at least another week to nurse a right hamstring injury.

The 29-year-old played in the team's first preason game but hasn't made an appearance on the court since.

When asked about Bargnani's status, Knicks coach Derek Fisher told media he was "progressing" and wants to have him back "soon," but also mentioned the team's upcoming schedule may keep him sidelined a bit longer.

"I don't think it's fair to put a player out there who hasn't really had an opportunity to practice and see how his body responds to the physical demands of playing the game," Fisher told ESPN New York before Sunday's game against the Charlotte Hornets. "So there are really no practices this week and maybe nest week ... it might be a better week to start to dial in when he might be back."

Fisher has used both Amar'e Stoudemire and Quincy Acy as starters in place of Bargnani thus far, but did not make it clear who would start in Tuesday night's game against the Washington Wizards.

Bargnani had an underwhelming 2013-12 season with New York, struggling with his shooting at 44 percent from the field and 28 percent from 3-point range and was sidelined after sustaining an elbow injury.
