Lakers Injury Update: Ryan Kelly is probable to make season debut on Tuesday

By on 11/04/2014 10:45:00 AM

The Los Angeles Lakers head into tonight's game against the Phoenix Suns off to an 0-4 start following a 127-104 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday. The biggest issue early on is the defense which is 30th in points allowed at 118 points per game. There is some good news, as backup power forward Ryan Kelly may be ready to return tonight after dealing with a hamstring injury.

I reported on October 29 that Kelly, who played in only three preseason games due to a hamstring injury, would not be ready for opening night. It appeared he will miss even more time.

Mike Bresnahan, who covers the Lakers for the Los Angeles Times, tweeted the following update on Kelly.
With Kelly out, Ed Davis saw the bulk of the minutes off the bench at power forward against the Warriors. Davis scored 13 points and hauled in six rebounds in 21 minutes. It's uncertain what the Lakers' rotation will be when Kelly returns.

Kelly, in his second season out of Duke, averaged eight points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 59 games in his rookie season.
