Lions Injury Update: Reggie Bush, Calvin Johnson, Nick Fairley

By on 11/15/2014 11:54:00 AM

The Detroit Lions have had to overcome significant injuries on their way to a 7-2 record, already losing six players for the season.  While Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush have missed multiple games, the Lions are fortunate that both players were able to play last week.  On the other side of the ball, Nick Fairley has been out since midway through Detroit's 22-21 win over the Atlanta Falcons in week 8.

While Reggie Bush’s career has been riddled with injuries, this is the first time that he’s dealt with a significant ankle injury.  Having already missed two of the last four games, Bush is in danger of missing Detroit’s Sunday contest against the Arizona Cardinals. Kyle Meinke of reports that Bush missed practice on Wednesday.  While Bush's availability for this week's action is still undecided, coach Jim Caldwell notes that Bush aggravated his injuries last week, “He just got a little nicked up during the course of the game.  He just wasn’t able to do quite as much and as well as he’d like.”

After missing three games and being significantly hampered in two others, Calvin Johnson returned to the Lions lineup in week 10.  He posted the type of stats that fans are accustomed to, hauling in seven receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown.  Expect him to be good to go again for Sunday’s game.

On defensive, Detroit does not expect Nick Fairley to return from his week 8 injury any time soon.  According to Justin Rogers of, speculation is that Fairley will be out until at least December 7th against Tampa Bay.
