The 28-year-old blue liner appeared to injure his left ankle as he tried a hit on Tomas Tatar midway through the second period of Saturday's win over the Detroit Red Wings. As he delivered the hit, Polak fell awkwardly with his left leg caught underneath Tatar's body. Tatar got up first while Polak stayed down on the ice in pain.
After being attended to by medical staff, Polak had to be assisted off the ice by teammates because he was unable to put any weight on his left foot.
Carlyle added Polak will undergo an MRI on Sunday to determine the extent of the injury.
