Pacers Injury Update: David West may return in time for Friday's game against the Magic

By on 11/27/2014 06:00:00 AM

The Indiana Pacers lost to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday by the score of 106-100. The loss dropped the Pacers to 6-9 on the season, fourth in the Central Division. The Pacers were lead by Rodney Stuckey, who had 22 points in 35 minutes. There is some good news on the injury front, as David West could be ready to play in his first game this season on Friday against the Orlando Magic.

Our own Emily Gruver reported on November 4 that West was still struggling with a sprained ankle he suffered in preseason. He was expected to miss at least another week.

Brett Pollakoff of noted that West appears ready to return on Friday against the Magic at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.  West said that coach Frank Vogel will have the final say as to whether or not he's in the lineup on Friday, according to Candace Buckner of the Indianapolis Star.

When West returns to the lineup, expect Lavoy Allen to see less time on the court. Allen is averaging  6.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game this season.

West, in his 12th NBA season out of Xavier, averaged 14 points and 6.8 rebounds in 80 games last season with the Pacers.  The veteran guard has played for New Orleans and the Pacers and has career averages of 15.9 points and 7.2 rebounds in 749 games.
