Panthers Injury Update: Dmitry Kulikov suffers knee injury, leaves game [Video]

By on 11/09/2014 09:00:00 AM

Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov left Saturday's game against the Calgary Flames in the second period and did not return, as reported by George Richards of the Miami Herald.

The injury occurred when Kulikov collided with Flames forward Lance Bouma. Their knees seem to have hit each other, and Kulikov clearly took it hard as he went down right away. He came back to play one shift, but left right after.

Kulikov was having himself a pretty decent game, recording two assists prior to leaving the game. The Panthers were up 4-3 on the Flames at the end of the second period. Calgary did rally in the third period however, scoring three unanswered goals.

After the game, head coach Gerard Gallant did not have an update on his condition. The team also does not practice on Sunday, so we may not have an update until Monday. Kulikov should be considered as day-to-day until an official update is provided.

Through 12 games this season, the 24-year-old now has four assists, including the two from Saturday. He's averaging over 20 minutes per game. Those are a lot of minutes to replace should he be forced to miss some time.
