Phillies Injury Update: Darin Ruf, Jesse Biddle

By on 11/12/2014 06:30:00 AM

The Philadelphia Phillies likely to trade some veterans this off season, as they focus on rebuilding for the future. They will be counting on free agent pick ups, trade acquisitions and young talent in their system in hopes of getting back into contention in a few years. A couple players that could be a factor are Darin Ruf and Jesse Biddle, who both are dealing with injury issues in winter ball.

Jim Salisbury, who covers the Phillies for, tweeted the following on Ruf.
Salisbury also added the following on Biddle.
Ruf hit .235 with three home runs and eight RBI in 102 at bats this past season. He hit 14 home runs in 251 at bats in 2013. He figures to get a chance in left field next season, along with Grady Sizemore and Domonic Brown, if Brown doesn't get traded.

Biddle, the Phillies number one draft pick in 2010, struggled this past season at Double-A Reading, posting a record of 3-10 with a 5.03 ERA. He allowed 78 hits and 11 home runs, in 82 1/3 innings with 44 walks and 80 strikeouts. He has a career Minor League record of 31-39 with a 3.55 ERA.
