Pistons Injury Update: Luigi Datome and Cartier Martin will not play tonight against the Knicks

By on 11/05/2014 04:45:00 PM

Both Luigi Datome and Cartier Martin will continue their seasons on the bench, as both have been declared out for tonight's Pistons-Knicks game. Martin is recovering from plantar fasciitis, while Datome is sidelined with a recently suffered hamstring injury.

Neither players have played thus far in the regular season, however both participated in Detroit's preseason contests. A journeyman, Martin is entering his seventh year in the NBA out of Kansas State. The Pistons are the sixth team he has played on, including the third in the past two years. Datome is entering his second year in the NBA after coming over from Europe last year. He will look to put his disappointing rookie year behind him, a season that saw him play in just 34 games and score just 83 points.

Datome is giving the NBA another try, saying "I signed a two-year deal precisely because so many players, in their first season in America, have had difficulties." Martin, on the other hand is still looking for some consistency in his career, having never played more than 60 games in a season. Neither figure to see very much time on the court even when healthy however, due to the stalwarts at the starting wing positions for Detroit.
