Raiders Injury Update: Derek Carr limited at practice

By on 11/19/2014 02:44:00 PM

Both the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs face the short turnaround this week with their AFC West match-up being played Thursday night in Oakland.  Unfortunately for the Raiders, they will have to be hopeful for the status of starting quarterback Derek Carr. Interim Head Coach Tony Sparano announced Tuesday that Carr was limited in practice.

Carr has struggled with what has been identified as a quadriceps strain and it remains to be seen how he responds to rehabilitation.  Sparano noted in his press conference this week that he will continue to test Carr's participation each day.  This is not the same injury that sidelined Carr earlier in the season when he injured the medial collateral ligament of his knee.  However, the injuries are often related as the quadriceps muscle acts to absorb shock to the knee joint.  Some athletes will frequently struggle getting full quadriceps strength back following knee injuries.
