Rangers Injury Update: Derek Stepan returns to the lineup and makes an impact

The New York Rangers got some help back on the front-end as forward Derek Stepan returned to the lineup on Saturday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He missed the first 12 games of the season after suffering a broken leg during the preseason.

Despite it being his first meaningful game since the playoffs, the Rangers' No. 2 center was one of the better players on the ice, reports Stephen Whyno of the The Canadian Press.

"I think I was OK tonight," Stepan said. "Some game decisions a little slow. At times I was sharp, at times it was just OK."

The 24-year-old finished the game with 17:26 TOI. He recorded an assist on the team's second goal just before the end of the first period. He added one shot on goal and one hit.

Last season, Stepan played in all 82 games for the club. He scored 17 goals and added 40 assists.

The Rangers lost 5-4 to the Leafs on Saturday. No time to think about it though, as they play host to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night.
