Detroit Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk will not play Sunday when the team plays host to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Ansar Khan of reports that he's still suffering from a groin injury.

Datsyuk also missed Friday's game against the New Jersey Devils, a 4-2 win.

This is Datsyuk's second injury of the season. He missed the start of the season with a shoulder injury.

He has played in eight games so far, and has made the most of them. He has five goals and as many assists, playing over a point-a-game.

He's considered day-to-day at moment.

The Red Wings are still doing pretty well in his absence. They are 4-1-1 this season without the Russian superstar in their lineup.

With the absence, the team will ice a top line of Gustav Nyquist, Henrik Zetterberg, and Johan Franzen.

Playing in Datsyuk's favor is the Wings' odd schedule. After Sunday, they do not play until Friday. This gives him plenty of time to heal, should the injury be not too serious.
