Sabres Injury Update: Josh Gorges out for "weeks"

By on 11/18/2014 02:16:00 PM

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Josh Gorges will be out for a while, according to Pro Hockey Talk.

General Manager Tim Murray said that the defenseman will be sidelined "for weeks"; "It's in between. He's not coming back any time soon. It's weeks. I have not been told about surgery so until [athletic trainer] Tim Macre says tells me something, I can't speculate" said Murray as per the Buffalo News.

Gorges left Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Blues early in the second period with a lower-body injury (knee), after he collided with Blues center Joakim Lindstrom, going into the boards behind the Buffalo net.

Gorges, a key figure on the Sabres' blueline to start this year (averaging 21:36 over the first 17 games while leading the league in shots blocked, with 60) has one point (one assist) so far this season.
