Texans Injury Update: Arian Foster, Jadeveon Clowney, Brian Cushing

By on 11/11/2014 11:00:00 AM

The Houston Texans are coming off a bye week that could not have come at a better time. Several of their core players, including Arian Foster, Jadeveon Clowney and Brian Cushing, were all dealing with injuries during the bye week. All three are day-to-day leading up to the Texans match up with the Cleveland Browns according to head coach Bill O'Brien on the Texans official site.

Arian Foster, who suffered a groin injury in week nine, left the field during the contest after throwing his helmet violently on the ground in obvious frustration. Seeing as the Texans will go with Ryan Mallett at quarterback, who will be making his fist career start, the running game with Arian Foster will need to get going to help him.

Outside Linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, who returned in week eight from a knee injury, has only played in two games for the Texans so far. He missed week nine due to illness and is still experiencing soreness in his knee. Clowney, the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft, was expected to complement J.J. Watt on the defensive line, but has yet to make an impact.

Inside linebacker Brian Cushing, who was inactive in weeks eight and nine due to a knee injury, seems on track to play in week 11. Cushing is having a down year after returning from a broken fibula and torn LCL he suffered in October of 2013.

Coach O'Brien also said cornerback Johnathan Joseph, who has passed the NFL's mandated concussion protocol, returned to practice Monday, while fellow cornerback Kareem Jackson probably will not be available for week 11 after suffering a knee injury in week nine.
